Build your knowledge and confidence in early childhood nutrition! Discover how with Nourishing Beginnings, a free online program designed specifically for early learning and child care (ELCC) professionals. The program offers helpful information on how to feed toddlers and preschoolers and how to engage children in learning about food. Each module aligns with Flight and has been developed with leaders in ELCC and nutrition education.
Who can participate?
How is Nourishing Beginnings delivered?
Nourishing Beginnings is delivered in two key stages:
Part 1, independent e-learning: Begin your journey by exploring fundamental concepts through our online module.
Part 2, a virtual peer workshop: After completing the module, join a virtual workshop led by experienced educators and dietitians. Here, you’ll put your new knowledge into practice alongside fellow educators. You’ll earn a certificate for your portfolio.
How can professors and program directors offer students this learning opportunity?
Students complete the self-directed module, including an assessment, at their own pace. Then, you deliver an in-class presentation using our comprehensive slide deck with speaking notes and case study videos. Professors can present independently or with virtual support from our team.
Is release time funding available?
Yes! After successfully completing the Nourishing Beginnings workshop, eligible educators in Alberta can claim up to five hours of release time. For complete details, please visit the Alberta Child Care Grant Funding Program website.
